Srinagar, January 30, 2019 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, the Chairman of Jammu and Kashmir Salvation Movement, Zafar Akbar Butt, along with a delegation visited different areas of Ganderbal district and expressed solidarity with the families of martyred and illegally detained Kashmiris.
Zafar Akbar Butt as part of mass contact programme visited Chundna, Bamloora, Behama and other areas of the district. Talking to the family members of martyrs and detainees, he said that the sacrifices of the Kashmiris would not be allowed to go waste and the ongoing freedom movement would be taken to its logical conclusion.
He said India will have to respect the Kashmiris’ freedom movement and their sacrifices for right to self-determination sooner or later. He urged New Delhi to initiate dialogue process for settlement of the lingering Kashmir dispute for ensuring permanent peace in South Asia.
Meanwhile, the Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front-R chief patron, Barrister Abdul Majeed Tramboo, in a statement issued in Srinagar expressed serious concern over the victimization of Kashmiri political prisoners in Delhi’s Tihar Jail. He condemned the ill-treatment meted out to the Kashmiri detainees.
He said that Hurriyat leaders and activists including Shabbir Ahmed Shah, Farooq Ahmad Dar, Dr Ghulam Muhammad Butt, Nayeem Ahmed Khan, Altaf Ahmed Shah, Ayaz Akbar, Peer Saifullah, Raja Meraj-ud-Din Kalwal, Shahid Yousuf, Syed Shakeel Ahmed and Zahoor Watali were not provided with basic facilities including medical care in the jail. He urged the world human rights bodies to take cognizance of the miserable plight of the Kashmiri detainees.
