Srinagar, August 08, 2015 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, Hurriyet leader and the Jammu and Kashmir Salvation Movement (JKSM) Chairman, Zafar Akbar Butt has denounced the authorities for stepping up the fresh arrest spree and harassing the people one week before the independence day of India. Zafar Akbar Butt, who is under house arrest in Srinagar, in a statement said that the authorities were strictly monitoring the activities of hundreds of Kashmiri youth recently released from jails and were being called in police stations, which was unjustified.
He said that the people of Kashmir were not against the celebration of Independence Day of India but he deplored that India, which claimed to be the biggest democracy, was committing the worst kind of human rights violations in the territory and had deprived the Kashmiri people of their democratic rights especially the right to self-determination guaranteed to them by India and the world community. Zafar Akbar Butt reiterated the Kashmiris’ resolve of taking the ongoing liberation movement to its logical conclusion.
