Yousuf Raza Gilani should be declared ineligible for Senate Election: Fawad

Islamabad, March 02, 2021 (PPI-OT): Minister for Science and Technology Fawad Chaudhary says after Ali Raza Gillani’s confession regarding leaked video, Election Commission should declare Yousuf Raza Gilani ineligible for Senate Election. Talking to media persons outside the Election Commission Office in Islamabad tonight, he said we have decided to file a reference against Yousuf Raza Gillani under the articles 218, 219, 280 and opinion of Supreme Court regarding the conduct of Senate Elections.

Fawad Chaudhary said we also hope that Chief Election Commissioner himself will take the notice of this matter. He said today’s incident vindicates our stance of reforms in Senate elections. Meanwhile, Parliamentary Secretary for Railways Farrukh Habib has said that the struggle of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf is against the corrupt practices.

Talking to media along with Parliamentary secretary on Planning, Development and Reform Kanwal Shauzab outside the Election Commission of Pakistan in Islamabad on Tuesday, he said former Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gillani must be disqualified for the senate elections after his son’s confession as he wants rigging in the elections.

Speaking on the occasion, Kanwal Shauzab said PTI is fully committed to its stance of free and transparent elections in the best interest of the country and the people. She said use of technology in the elections is of vital importance to end the politics of buying and selling.
