Yasin Malik condemns spree of arrests in IOK

Srinagar, February 01, 2016 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, the Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) Chairman, Muhammad Yasin Malik has strongly condemned the spree of arrests throughout Kashmir valley and termed it as an undeclared war against common people of the territory.

Muhammad Yasin Malik, in a statement issued in Srinagar, condemning the ongoing oppression and arrests throughout Kashmir valley, especially in Islamabad, Pulwama and Srinagar districts, said that police and forces had intensified the spree of arrests and other oppressive measures against Kashmiris.

He said that recently many innocent youth including Zubair Ahmad Mir, Azhar Reyaz Wagay, Irfan Shafi Baba, Tanzeel Ahmad Keen, Ikhlas Ahmad Bhat, Arjumand Qamar and Aqib Mushtaq Sheikh had been arrested by police from Islamabad district and detained in various police stations. Police are also searching for a 2nd class student Zonain who is only 8 years old, he deplored. He said police have arrested his father Reyaz Ahmad Sofi in his place.

Yasin Malik said that similar oppression was going on in Pulwama and other parts of Kashmir. He said that police and forces at the behest of occupational administration were pushing Kashmiris to the wall by these oppressive measures. He appealed to the international community, civil society and human rights organizations to take measures to safeguard Kashmiris from the ongoing Indian oppression.
