Karachi, August 12, 2016 (PPI-OT):A worrisome increase is observed in complaints against K-Electric’s overbilling, that is why there are lots of applications of consumers in Office of Federal Ombudsman, these thoughts were expressed by Advisor to Federal Ombudsman during the hearing of applications from people against K-Electric at Deputy Commissioner Malir’s Camp Office. He said that on directions of Federal Ombudsman Salman Farooqui, poor citizens are being provided quick justice at their doorsteps on preference. Applicant Syed Haider Abbas told the Ombudsman Court that there are 5 meters in his house, there is a worrisome increase in bills of 4 meters, which he cannot pay, upon which the court checked the bills of last one year for said meters and ordered to issue the bill on average of the same bills. Applicant Manzoor Hussain told that I am a poor man and hunt by overbilling of K-Electric, I cannot afford to pay the bill, upon which the court ordered to the representative of K-Electric to make a fresh survey of his house and to produce the report after checking load so that consumption of power may correctly be viewed.
Applicant Naheed Rauf’s husband, her nominee, told that our meter is outside the house where power could not even be imagined but in spite of this we are upset due to overbilling, the court upended the IRB from the bill and provided him quick justice. Applicant Abid Hussain told the court that I am ready to pay a legitimate bill but overbilling should be upended, upon which Advisor Muhammad Yameen ordered to representative of K-Electric to send him the bill after checking the load. Applicant Abdul Haq told that I regularly pay the bill but in spite of this excess bill sent to me, the court perused the report produced by K-Electric and after checking bills of last two years upended the overbilling.
On this occasion the applicant request to the court to decrease the bill more upon which Advisor Muhammad Yameen said to him you should decrease power consumption so that billing amount could be decreased, what extent you have used the power, you will have to pay for it. Applicant Muhammad Nawaz Asif told that despite of long load shedding bill has been sent with excess amounts, do justice with me, upon which the court ordered to K-Electric representative to submit the report on next hearing. Applicant Azizullah Boro complained about overbilling and the court not only upended the overbilling after checking last bills but also ordered to pay the remaining amount in two instalments. Ombudsman court also heard other more applications and dismissed the court after providing justice to the complainants.
