London, October 27, 2020 (PPI-OT):Tehreek-e-Kashmir UK held protests and Kashmir digital campaign in various cities of the Britain to mark October 27, India’s invasion of Jammu and Kashmir, as a Black Day. TeK UK launched Kashmir digital campaign outside Indian consulate in Birmingham and Indian High Commission in London.

The protesters chanted slogans against Indian illegal occupation of Jammu and Kashmir and carried placards outside the Indian consulate in Birmingham. The President of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK), Sardar Masood Khan, and Kashmiri Hurriyat leader, Altaf Ahmed Butt, addressed the rally through video link.

The AJK President in his address lauded the efforts and dedication of President Tek Fahim Kayani for Kashmir freedom movement and for organizing rallies in the UK to mark the October 27 as Black Day. “27th October is the darkest day in the history of Jammu and Kashmir,” he said. He said that because of the resolute efforts of the diaspora community Kashmir freedom movement has become an international movement.

“73 years ago India occupied one part of Jammu and Kashmir in violation of international law and against the wishes of Kashmiri people. The dark night of alien domination, foreign occupation of Kashmiri people continues to cast its shadow up to this day. Last year the fascist regime of India once again invaded the territory, reoccupied it and annexed it to its federation. These illegal steps must be reversed, the AJK President added.

“We appeal to the UK Parliament, Govt and Civil Society to play their role to end the ongoing vicious cycle of transfer of Hindu population to Jammu and Kashmir to alter its demography. This is a war crime and a crime against humanity,” he said. “Killings, blinding, and sexual violence on a large scale must cease. In the past, the International Civil Society has reason to enforce rule of law and give justice to the oppressed peoples. Kashmiris await that kind of Global Intervention for the restoration of their rights in accordance with the UN resolutions,” he maintained.

Sardar Masood Khan called upon the UK to step forward and save Kashmir from annihilation and the region from a devastating nuclear war. He said the Kashmiris have vowed to continue their struggle till they get their right to self-determination.

The President of Jammu and Kashmir Salvation Movement, Altaf Ahmed Butt, in his speech appreciated the efforts of Tehreek-e-Kashmir President, Fahim Kayani, and his whole team for continuously organizing rallies, webinars and digital campaigns which have projected the freedom movement at the international level. He also thanked the UK parliamentarians, Pakistani, and Kashmiri diaspora community, and civil society for their support to the Kashmir cause.

Altaf Butt said 73 years ago India illegally occupied the territory of Jammu and Kashmir, and all those years it has been continuously oppressing and suppressing the Kashmiris. He added that, since 5th August 2019, BJP led fascist Indian government under the leadership of Modi has introduced punitive measures to break the backbone of resilient Kashmiris through pre-planned economic and financial lockdown. Small and large businesses, tourism, Handicraft and fruit industry were destroyed by the longest and harshest lockdown on earth, he added.

He pointed out that more than 20 billion dollar loss to the economy, more than 300 Kashmiris killed by Indian brutal forces, almost 900 houses damaged and destroyed, hundreds of women molested, Jewellery and cash belonging to the Kashmiri people looted during cordon and search operations by Indian troops in the last fourteen months.

He appealed to the UK, a permanent member of the UN Security Council, to intervene and help resolve the Kashmir dispute as per the UN resolutions. He also urged the world powers and International organizations to collectively raise their voice to save humanity from brutal genocide in IIOJK.

The President of Tehreek-e-Kashmir UK, Fahim Kayani, while addressing the rally said that his organization would continue its mission until Kashmiris get their birth right as per their aspirations and the UN resolutions. He added that TeK UK will keep on exposing the brutalities and oppression upon Kashmiri people by Indian forces.

Fahim Kayani paid rich tributes to the martyrs, innocent women, children and youth who laid their lives for the Kashmir cause in these 73 years, the darkest chapter of the history of IIOJK. He thanked Sardar Masood Khan, Altaf Ahmed Butt, who joined via video link, and all the participants who joined the rallies and protests.
