Prime Minister forms committee to probe hockey debacle

Islamabad, July 04, 2015 (PPI-OT): The Government has taken a serious notice of the debacle of Pakistan Hockey Team in the Qualifying Round at Belgium. The Minister for IPC and Secretary, Ministry of IPC have expressed their anguish and regret over the set back to the aspirations of the sports loving people of Pakistan.

The Prime Minister of Pakistan has instructed the Ministry of IPC to conduct a probe into the causes of the happenings at Belgium state of affairs of Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) and reasons for the down fall of the national sport.

Accordingly, following Committee has been set up to inquire into the matter and put up a report and recommendations to the Government/Ministry of IPC/Pakistan Sports Board for onward submission to the Prime Minister, Patron-in-Chief of Hockey:-

a) Mr. Muhammad Ejaz Chaudhary, Secretary, Ministry of IPC – Convener

b) Col. (R) Mudassar Asghar, Ex-Olympian – Member

c) Mr. Shahbaz Ahmad Senior, Ex-Olympian – Member

d) Khawaja Muhammad Junaid, Ex-Olympian – Member

e) Dr. M. Akhtar Nawaz Ganjera, Director General (T and T), PSB – Member

f) Representative of POA – Member

The Committee will complete and compile the report within 07-days and submit it to the Government.
