Shia-Sunni Coordination Committee meets in Srinagar

Srinagar, September 14, 2018 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, the Shia-Sunni Coordination Committee held a special session at Khanqah-e-Maulla in Srinagar with senior Hurriyat leader and the Chairman of Ittehad-ul-Muslimeeen, Maulana Masroor Abbas Ansari, in chair. A large number of people from different Shia and Suni religious associations and political and social organizations participated in the meeting.

The Chairman of Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF), Muhammad Yasin Malik, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq’s secretary Maulana Shams-ur-Rehman, Javaid Ahmed Mir, Abdul Majeed Wani, Hilal Ahmad War, Mushtaq Ahmad Sofi, Maulana Ghulam Mustafa Fatimi, Jafar Kashmiri, Ghulam Nabi Najar, Muhammad Ashraf and Syed Mohammad Hamdani, besides representatives of Jamiat-e-Hamdaniya, Shaheed-e-Millat Youth Forum, Peoples League and Anjuman-e-Hussaini Khanyar attended the special session.

The General Secretary of Ittehad-ul-Muslimeeen, Syed Muzaffar Rizvi emphasized on the need for Shia-Sunni unity. “Our unity is our great strength and we should always demonstrate it. It is our collective duty to denounce the persons involved in undesirable and sinful acts aimed at creating a wedge between the people,” he added.

Muhammad Yasin Malik on the occasion said, Patron of Ittehad-ul-Muslimeeen Maulana Abbas Ansari has always played an imperative role for greater unity of the Muslim Ummah. He said all the resistance organizations have pledged to participate in the mourning processions of Muharram-ul-Haram and foil all the conspiracies of the enemies.

The Chairman of Ittehad-ul-Muslimeeen, Maulana Masroor Abbas Ansari, in his presidential address urged for maintaining religious harmony especially during Muharram-ul-Haram. He said Islam is against sectarianism and stresses unity among all Muslims. He also called upon the people to remain vigilant during the Muharram-ul-Haram as enemy was hell bent on creating a rift between Muslims to serve its vested interest.
