Shabbir Shah urges UN to play role in Kashmir settlement

Srinagar, June 28, 2016 (PPI-OT):In occupied Kashmir, the Secretary General of All Parties Hurriyet Conference, Shabbir Ahmad Shah has urged the United Nations to take practical steps for settlement of the Kashmir dispute. Shabbir Ahmad Shah in a statement issued in Srinagar, today, pointed out that India through its provocative actions was endangering the peaceful atmosphere of South Asian region.

He welcomed the concern expressed by the United Nations and the United States over the ongoing bloody struggle in Jammu and Kashmir, but urged the world leadership to rise above the rhetorical statements on Kashmir and take practical steps to resolve the long-pending dispute.

The APHC Secretary General said the people of Jammu Kashmir have time and again pleaded their case of right to self-determination before the world bodies but India’s stubborn and unsympathetic attitude created hurdles all the time.

Shabbir Shah reiterated that Kashmir dispute involves three stakeholders— Pakistan, India and the people of Jammu Kashmir. He said while Pakistan and Kashmiris welcome the third-party intervention on Kashmir, but India’s approach is negative. “This way, India is endangering the peaceful atmosphere in the South Asia,” he said.
