Shabbir Dar pays tributes to martyred youth

Srinagar, June 30, 2015 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, Hurriyet leader, Shabbir Ahmad Dar has paid rich tributes to 13-year-old, Khalid Mir, who was martyred by Indian troops in Sopore on this day in 2010. Shabbir Ahmad Dar in a statement issued in Srinagar said that a condolence meeting was held to pay homage to the martyred boy. He said that the martyr was forcibly throne in river Jhelum from Sopore Bridge by the troops and when he tried to swim towards the bank of the river, the trigger-happy killers showered bullets on him, killing him on spot.

He said that Khalid’s father, Sharief-ud-Din, had himself spent three years in Jodhpur Jail, and was a renowned freedom fighter of Sopore. He said that Khalid was a born freedom fighter and at the time of his martyrdom was part of a peaceful protest demonstration against the excesses of the occupation forces.

Shabbir Dar said that Indian forces’ personnel were killing innocent people in Kashmir to prolong India’s forcible occupation of the territory. He, however, said that killings and other repressive measures could not suppress the Kashmiris’ ongoing liberation movement and they would take it to its logical conclusion at all costs.
