Russian FM reaches Pakistan

Islamabad, April 06, 2021 (PPI-OT): Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has reached Islamabad on a two-day official visit to Pakistan. Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi received his Russian counterpart and his delegation at the airport. The Russian Foreign Minister will visit Foreign Office tomorrow, where delegation-level talks will be held.

Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi will lead the Pakistani side. During the talks, views will be exchanged on bilateral cooperation in diverse fields, promotion of economic collaboration, important regional and international issues and matters of mutual interest.

It is expected that visit of the Russian Foreign Minister will help promote bilateral relations between the two countries and to further strengthen them. Earlier, Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi in a video message had said the bilateral relations between Pakistan and Russia are taking a new turn and improving in the fields of economy and defense.

He said both the countries desire to promote cooperation in the region and also to take forward the North South Gas pipeline project. The Foreign Minister said the two countries are playing their role in the Afghan peace process. Meanwhile the Foreign Office in a statement said that Russian Foreign Minister will also call on Prime Minister Imran Khan.
