Release of TeH leaders in IOK demanded

Srinagar, July 28, 2015 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, the forum patronized by the veteran Hurriyet leader, Syed Ali Gilani has termed the continued detention of Tehreek-e-Hurriyet Jammu and Kashmir leaders, Shakeel Ahmad Yatoo, Mohammad Yousuf Falahi, Nazir Ahmad Mantoo and Zubair Ahmad Turray as illegal and demanded their immediate release.

The forum spokesman, Ayaz Akbar in a statement issued in Srinagar said that Tehreek-e-Hurriyet Shopian district President, Shakeel Ahmad Yatoo had been languishing in jail for last seven months. He was slapped draconian Public Safety Act (PSA) in January 2015 and was shifted to Srinagar central jail. When the period of his PSA was about to end, the authorities revoked the black law and slapped another one on him, he deplored.

The spokesman said that the High Court of the territory had although quashed his second PSA some three days back but he was still not being released. He said that another two Tehreek-e-Hurriyet leaders, Mohammad Yousuf Falahi and Nazir Ahmad Mantoo were arrested by the Indian police at the time when they were on way to attend a condolence meeting in the Shopian area.

He also condemned the interference of the Indian army in the educational institutions under the so-called “Sadbhavana” operation in the Bandipora district and cooperation of the teaching staff in this regard. He said such types of non-schooling activities adversely impact the education career of the students and frequent visit of the Indian troops in the educational institutions have bad psychological effect on the students.
