PM urges people to adhere to SOPs against COVID-19

Islamabad, March 29, 2021 (PPI-OT): Prime Minister Imran Khan has urged the people to adhere to SOPs against COVID-19 as the third wave of the pandemic is far more dangerous than the first two. The Prime Minister in his message from quarantine said carriers of 3rd strain of virus arrived in Lahore, Peshawar and Islamabad where it is spreading fast. He said world is witness that wearing mask and avoiding hot-spot greatly reduces chances of infection.

In this connection, addressing a press conference in Lahore, Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar said Provincial Government has decided to implement effective lockdown from 1st of next month in the cities where the Covid-19 is spreading fast. He said from 1st April indoor and outdoor wedding ceremonies will be banned in the province. He said shopping malls and markets will be closed at 6 pm besides closing the mass transit systems.

Talking to media men in Karachi on Monday, Spokesperson of Sindh Government Barrister Murtaza Wahab has said strict action will be taken against those violating the Standard Operating Procedures issued by the government to contain spread of the COVID-19 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, government is utilizing all its resources for best medical treatment to the coronavirus patients.

According to the spokesperson of Lady Reading Hospital Peshawar, two-hundred and forty beds have been allocated for Covid patients. The government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has also decided to close educational institutions in six more districts of the province due to Covid-19. Balochistan government has imposed Section-144 in the provincial metropolis, Quetta in view of the rapid spread of Coronavirus.
