Karachi, November 15, 2022 (PPI-OT):Pakistan International Airlines has started its flights for Istanbul. The first flight took off from Allama Iqbal International Airport on Tuesday for Istanbul. The airline will now operate six weekly flights from Pakistan to Istanbul, from where Pakistani passengers will be able to fly to 28 cities in Europe, UK and USA under PIA Turkish Airlines code-share.
PIA has commenced flights to Istanbul on the 75th Anniversary of Diplomatic Relations between Pakistan and Turkey, this year. A simple ceremony was held at Lahore Airport on the departure of the first flight. Minister for Aviation Khawaja Saad Rafique was the chief guest at the occasion. A Cake was also cut on the occasion. Speaking on the occasion Minister for Aviation, Khawaja Saad Rafique said that Pakistan and Turkey have strong brotherly relations and the flight operation to Istanbul will further improve and strengthen people to people contact between the two countries.
He said that PIA is making efforts to improve its services and expanding its network for the convenience of passengers. Chief Executive Officer PIA, AVM Amir Hayat, Chief Commercial Officer, Nosherwan Adil and senior officials of PIA were present at the ceremony. PIA will operate 4 flights from Islamabad and 2 flights from Lahore.
PIA flight on arrival at Istanbul airport was given a water gun salute. CEO Turkish airlines Bilal Uksi and Istanbul authorities warmly welcomed and greeted CEO PIA and passengers at the aircraft. CEO Turkish airlines Bilal Uksi said that People of Pakistan and PIA are our brothers, we will do whatever we can for the progress of PIA. Various agreements were finalized between PIA and Turkish Airlines, both Airlines will cooperate in the areas of food services, cargo and engineering. Passengers traveling from Pakistan appreciated the service quality of PIA and expressed their best wishes.
