Parents contest army’s version of soldier’s suicide

Bengaluru, October 10, 2017 (PPI-OT):The parents of a young Indian soldier, R Narendra, who reportedly ended his life by committing suicide at his camp in Islamabad district of occupied Kashmir on Sunday, have contested the Indian Army’s version of their son’s death.

Narendra’s mother Pushpa told media that she did not believe that her son had committed suicide. “He had made a video call on Sunday evening and had spoken as usual. He did not tell anything about any problems and he did not seem depressed,” she said.

“If my son committed suicide let the Army officials show us the evidence. We will seek legal help to ascertain the exact cause of my son’s death,” Pushpa added. R Narendra, a resident of Rajagopalnagar in Bengaluru, had joined army two years ago. He was found dead on Sunday and the family was alerted on early hours on Monday. The body will be brought to his native area today (Tuesday) for final rites.
