Pakistan, China agree on formation of joint parliamentary committee comprising members

Islamabad, January 27, 2021 (PPI-OT): Pakistan and China have agreed on the formation of a joint parliamentary committee comprising members from Pakistani Parliament and National People’s Congress for effective oversight of Chine Pakistan Economic Corridor project.

The understanding was reached during a virtual meeting between Speaker National Assembly Asad Qaiser and Chairman National Peoples’ Congress of China, Li Zhanshu on Wednesday. Both sides were of the opinion that enhanced economic cooperation through parliamentary and economic cooperation would give impetus to the existing bilateral relations.

Speaking on the occasion, Asad Qaiser said that Pakistan considers China as its closest friend, staunchest partner and an iron brother. He congratulated his Chinese counterpart on 71st anniversary of Sino-Pak diplomatic relations and Chinese New Year.

Speaker National Assembly said Pakistan strongly believes in territorial integrity of China and fully supports One China policy. He said that Kashmir being the bleeding wound on the map of the world needs international attention for mitigation of miseries of Kashmiri people and fulfilment of international commitment. On the occasion, Chairman National Peoples’ Congress Li Zhanshu said his country would always stand by Pakistan for its defence and maintaining territorial integrity.
