One lakh dengue awareness booklets distributed in Karachi only: Jam Mehtab Hussain Dahar

Karachi, September 22, 2015 (PPI-OT): Provincial Minister for Health Jam Mehtab Hussain Dahar has said that so far in current year 1630 cases of dengue virus affected have been reported. In Karachi 1585 people have been affected by dengue virus while in rest of Sindh 45 cases have been reported. This he said while talking to media men here at Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto Shaheed Trauma Centre Civil Hospital, Karachi on Monday.

He said that during awareness drive one lakh booklets were distributed in Karachi only, while awareness drive was held in schools and community centres and besides this awareness campaign was also held in Hyderabad, Thatta, Sujawal, Mirpurkhas and Tando Allah Yar and in next phase the drive would be extended to rest of the districts.

Replying to a query, Health Minister said that the process of renewal of contract of social mobilizers was in progress and PC –I for next three years had been submitted. During his visit to Trauma Centre he directed the contractor to speed up the work and to do needful work to avoid any untoward incident specially if the fire broke out. He told that the under construction trauma Centre should be completed at earliest in order to provide relief to the patients.
