Mobile Court inaugurated by Peshawar High Court and United Nations Development Programme

Peshawar, July 27 2013 (PPI-OT): The Mobile Court was launched today by Mr. Justice Dost Muhammad Khan, Honorable Chief Justice of Peshawar High Court and Marc-André Franche, Country Director UNDP in Pakistan. The Mobile Court bus will provide justice rapidly for litigants who cannot afford to travel to courts in the cities.

Mr. Justice Dost Muhammad Khan, Honorable Chief Justice of Peshawar High Court said that through the mobile court, thousands of people will have access to justice at their doorstep, many for the first time. Unnecessary litigation will be limited and this would help the rural areas as more than 50% of the rural population travels to the cities to seek justice. He further added that “We hope this will accelerate administration of justice and deter crime.”

Mr. Marc-André Franche, Country Director UNDP Pakistan, said, “Promoting rule of law at the national and international levels is at the heart of the United Nations mission.
