Srinagar, December 01, 2018 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, the authorities placed the Chairman of Hurriyat forum, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, under house arrest and sealed the office of the amalgam in Srinagar, today. The authorities put Mirwaiz Umar Farooq under house detention and sealed the Rajbagh office of the Hurriyat forum to prevent a workers’ session.
Mirwaiz Umar Farooq in a tweet message wrote, “One day #Hurriyat workers /delegate session barred! Put again under #HouseArrest! Rajbagh office of Hurriyat sealed! Not allowed any space or scope for any political activity! So much for practising honest democracy Governor sahib.”
The Indian police disallowed the Hurriyat forum leader and the Chairman of Jammu and Kashmir Peoples League, Mukhtar Ahmed Waza, and his party members Muhammad Ashraf Sofi, Muhammad Rafiq Dar, Nisar Ahmed and Fayaz Ahmed to enter the office of the amalgam, as it was sealed by authorities. Waza had come from Islamabad town to attend the session of the forum.
Meanwhile, the Hurriyat forum in a statement issued in Srinagar strongly condemned the house arrest of Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and sealing of its office in Srinagar, terming it frustration of the occupation authorities.
It deplored that the authorities sealed the office of the Hurriyat forum to prevent a one-day session of workers, which was undemocratic and violation of the fundamental rights. It said no one can guarantee peace and prosperity in the region until the Kashmir dispute is resolved under its historic perspective in accordance with the aspirations of Kashmiri people.
The Hurriyat forum said that India’s intransigence towards Kashmir dispute is the main hurdle in cordial relations between Pakistan and India and called for meaningful tripartite dialogue among Pakistan, India and the genuine leadership of Kashmir for permanent settlement of the dispute.
