Karachi, August 10, 2016 (PPI-OT):Sindh Minister for Works and Services visited the site of under construction project namely “Sindh Secretariat Complex No.7 and 8”. He was accompanied by Secretary, Works and Services Department, Government of Sindh, Mr. Kamran Asif, the Project Director and Mr. Tariq Hussain, the Project Architect briefed the Minister the status and the progress of the project.
They briefed about the background of the project and explained that Government of Sindh had remained without proper facilities to house the various department offices. Since 1947 the barrack 4A and 4B adjacent to the historical Sindh High Court Building have been used as office space for the departments.
The status of the services in the buildings is very poor s these barracks were never meant to be used as offices. Other than these barracks Government office have also been accommodated in other building on rent. The Government office decided to utilize the land to redesign and to accommodate the current offices as well as the ones in rented premises.
They also briefed about the salient features of the project, the progress of the project so far and about the problems faced during the execution. The Minister was briefed about the completion of the project and future plans regarding shifting of various departments. The issue about demolition of the old barracks was also discussed. The Minister appreciated the project and directed the Project Director and Project Architect to speed-up the construction process and assured of his full support in solving problems, if any.
