Meeting of standing committee on states and frontier held

Islamabad, May 11, 2016 (PPI-OT):The meeting of standing committee on states and frontier was held here at parliament house under the chairmanship of senator Hilal-u-Rehman. Discussion took place in detail about the petition regarding ban of nitrogen based fertilizers in FATA.

Senior officer from FATA secretariat stated that ban on nitrogen based fertilizers was put because of its use in explosive materials. He further added that evidences collected in this regard shows that some criminal elements used nitrogen based fertilizers for making explosives which resulted in the loss of several innocent lives.

Senator Hidayat-Ullah while commenting on the status of the petition pointed out that due to ban on nitrogen based fertilizers growth output of crops has been badly affected and as a result people of FATA are suffering economically. He emphasized on making controlled mechanism for its distribution so that growth output of crops could be restored.

Senator Ahmad Sajad Toori emphasized on giving compensation to the people of FATA so that their economic loss could be minimized. On the issue of irregularities in recruitment in Levies force, Senator Usman Kakar pointed out that merit in the recruitment of Levies force has been totally ignored. A sub-committee was constituted to scrutinize this matter.
