Karachi, June 07, 2017 (PPI-OT):Mayor Karachi Wasim Akhtar paid a visit of under construction works at Malir 15 on Tuesday where chairman DMC Korangi Nayyar Raza and chairman DMC Malir Jan Muhammed Baloch were also present besides vice chairman DMC Malir Abdul Khaliq Marwat, D.G Works Shahab Anwer, Sr. Director M.S Masood Alam, Project Director and other officers.
Mayor Karachi during his visit inspected the development works of 5km long road from Quaidabad to Star Gate at Malir 15 which is being constructed with a cost of Rs785million. He also reviewed the Azeempura Loop presently under construction at the railway line at Malir 15 and directed to complete this work speedily. Mayor Karachi said the construction of road from Quaidabad to Star Gate was very important as the people had to suffer here due to traffic problems.
With its construction now these problems would solve and situation becomes better. Talking to media representatives on this occasion Mayor Karachi said 183 schemes had been sent for Karachi but none was included in the Sindh Budget. He said Karachi contributes with Rs150billion in taxes however it was unfortunate that only Rs40billion earmarked in the budget for development in Karachi.
He said we called a meeting of elected representatives before the budget to prepare the budget proposals so that citizens could be facilitated but none of our proposal was approved. Replying to a query he said tree plantation campaign will be initiated in the current month in Karachi during which large scale plantation of Karachi’s old and traditional trees will be made and this would improve the environmental conditions.
