Many injured in troops’ firing on protesters in IOK

Srinagar, October 18, 2017 (PPI-OT):In occupied Kashmir, over half a dozen people were injured after Indian army opened fire on protesters following a braid-chopping attempt in Salar area in Islamabad district, today. The residents chased a braid chopper who tried to flee in an army vehicle in Wullerhama village of the district. They said that the residents pelted the vehicle with stones. The troops opened fire on the protesters.

“Five persons suffered bullet injuries,” the protesters said. They feared that the actual number of injured people could be many times more. All the injured were shifted to District Hospital Islamabad for treatment.

Meanwhile, Indian troops raided the houses in Shopian district and vandalized properties. The people whose houses were raided were identified as Aadil Ahmad Malik and Umar Nazir Malik of Malik Gund village. The troops also arrested two brothers of Umar and one brother of Adil and his friend. In Turkwangam village, troops also vandalized the property of Zubair Ahmad Wani and arrested his father, uncle and a guest. At Babekhider, the forces vandalized property of one Obaid Malla and arrested his father and brother. The forces’ personnel smashed windowpanes of the houses and damaged the properties including fridges, washing machines, televisions, utensils in these areas.

On the other hand, a teacher was found dead with slit throat in Wathoo village of Shopian district. A police official said that Aijaz Ahmad Lone, a teacher by profession, was found dead under mysterious conditions near Lar Maadan Stadium in Wathoo area, this morning.
