Killing of civilians in Rajouri denounced

Srinagar, January 03, 2023 (PPI-OT):In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, senior leader of All Parties Hurriyat Conference, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, has condemned the recent killing of six civilians including two children and injuring of several others in Rajouri district of Jammu region. Four persons Pritam Sharma, Ashish Kumar, Deepak Kumar and Sheetal Kumar were killed while six others were injured after unidentified gunmen resorted to firing in Dangri area of the district on Sunday evening. Next morning, two children also died and few others sustained injuries after an improvised explosive device (IED) went off outside a house in the area.

Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, who continues to be under house arrest since August 05, 2019, in a statement in Srinagar said, expressed sympathy and solidarity with the families of the deceased and people of Rajouri adding that he shares their grief and prays for speedy recovery of the injured. The Mirwaiz said indiscriminate and irreparable loss of human lives in IIOJK is the tragedy of this region which we are witnessing for the last several decades due to the unresolved Kashmir dispute. He said, to break this vortex and address the root cause, the APHC has always advocated dialogue among stakeholders to settle the dispute.

He said, India’s unilateral decisions and actions can neither undo the Kashmir dispute nor end it. Agha Syed Hassan Al-Moosvi Al-Safvi in a statement in Srinagar denouncing in strong terms the killings expressed sympathies with the families of the victims. He said such killings have dotted Kashmir’s bloody history over the years. He said, the incident is woeful for us all. He added there is the need of a permanent halt for innocent civilian killings in the territory.

Meanwhile, the High Court Bar Association of IIOJK in a meeting presided over by the Convener, NA Ronga, also denounced the killing of civilians in Dangri area of Rajouri. It extended condolences and solidarity to the victim families. The HCBA demanded an impartial probe into the incident to punish the persons involved in it.
