Kashmir University students protest against braid-cutting spree –

Srinagar, October 12, 2017 (PPI-OT):In occupied Kashmir, the students of Kashmir University staged forceful demonstrations, today, against the failure of the puppet administration to prevent braid-chopping incidents in the territory. The Joint Resistance Leadership comprising Syed Ali Gilani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Muhammad Yasin Malik had asked the students of the occupied territory to hold demonstrations, today, against the disgraceful incidents of chopping of braids of women particularly young girls.

However, the puppet authorities announced the closure of schools across the Kashmir Valley to prevent the protests. In a latest tactic of state terrorism, the agents of Indian secret agencies use chemicals to make women unconscious and cut their braids. Locals say that the acts were aimed at creating a sense of insecurity and fear-psychosis among the womenfolk.

Scores of students of the Kashmir University marched through the campus and staged protests against the braid-chopping spree. The protesters demanded the identification of the people involved in braid-cutting. More than 100 braid-chopping incidents have taken place in the Valley during the past few weeks.

The puppet authorities continued to place Syed Ali Gilani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, Muhammad Yasin Malik, Mukhtar Ahmed Waza, Zafar Akbar Butt under house arrest. The authorities also put Professor Hameeda Nayeem under house detention.
