Kashmir dispute threatens existence of yet another generation: Gilani

Srinagar, July 21, 2019 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, reacting to the statement of Indian Defense Minister Rajnath Singh, All Parties Hurriyat Conference Chairman, Syed Ali Gilani has said that the ‘Kashmir issue will be resolved soon’ has pricked the balloon of deceitful rhetoric of “Atoot Ang [integral part]”.

Syed Ali Gilani in a statement issued in Srinagar said, “Resolutions are sought only for disputed and unresolved issues so even subconsciously Indian rulers have accepted Jammu and Kashmir to be a dispute, the resolution of which, according to them, is going to be very soon.”

Completely rejecting the assertions that “they only will resolve it and nobody can question”, the APHC chairman said Kashmir dispute is Himalaya-like reality and such utterances from Indian rulers are not only far from reality but a sign of highhandedness and arrogance. “Kashmir issue is a long pending dispute, live on the UN agenda. It has consumed more than three generations of Kashmir and still continues to threaten the existence of yet another generation,” he added.

“Lakhs of people of sacrificed their lives, with death and destruction visible in every nook and corner of the territory, scores of widows and orphans, unending suffocating and uncertain situation along with the aspirations of the people in the light of its historical facts – all need to be taken into account before jumping to the conclusion of this grave issue.”

The pro-freedom leader said that had it been only up to India to solve it, they had forcibly and militarily occupied it long before, but despite their might and unparalleled oppression – Kashmir issue is still existing like a monster, endangering the peace and prosperity of not only South Asia but the whole world as well.

The octogenarian leader said that when India itself was fighting the British rule, their occupier also used to threaten them that freedom from “British is not possible”, but time has proved that souls cannot be suppressed for too long and no matter how big and mighty the occupier is – it has to leave the forced control and India too will have to vacate this land like Britishers vacated Indian soil.

Syed Ali Gilani said that Kashmiris had been enslaved for decades and every oppressor had proved his muscle to the maximum – creating countless deaths, scores of graveyards and with mass arrests for years together, but freedom sentiments are flourishing more than before and go on increasing with each passing day. Honestly suggesting Indian rulers the APHC chairman said that they should take concrete steps for permanent resolution of this issue and then focus on the uplift of life standard of their poor population.
