Kashmir a battle between oppressor and oppressed: Gilani

Srinagar, May 17, 2016 (PPI-OT):In occupied Kashmir, the Chairman of All Parties Hurriyet Conference, Syed Ali Gilani has said that Kashmir is not a Hindu-Muslim issue but a battle between an oppressor and the oppressed. Syed Ali Gilani while addressing the APHC’s advisory council meeting in Srinagar said, we are fighting India because New Delhi has snatched the freedom of the people of Jammu and Kashmir and we want India to fulfil its promises made with the Kashmiris from time to time.

“India is working on different plans to strengthen and prolong its control over Jammu and Kashmir. The BJP-PDP coalition government has accelerated the execution of these plans. The communal forces are using government machinery for materialising the RSS communal agenda of setting up of soldier colonies, creation of separate townships for Kashmiri Pandits and implementation of New Industrial Policy,” he said.

The APHC Chairman said that Mehbooba Mufti and her party PDP were extending every help in execution of these communal agendas for the sake of power. The circumstantial evidence indicates that Mehbooba and BJP had agreed on establishment of soldier colonies and the deal had deliberately been kept hidden from the general public, he pointed out.

On the creation of separate townships for the Pandits, Syed Ali Gilani appealed to the Pandit community not to support any proposal or plan which would cut them off the rest of the society and harm the brotherhood of the Kashmiri people.

Rejecting the new Industrial Policy, he said, “India wants to weaken the special status of Kashmir in every possible way and convert the Muslim majority into a minority. It wants to settle non-state subjects in Kashmir under different names and schemes and is trying to snatch the livelihood of Kashmiri traders and businessmen.”

Terming the announcement of the new medical colleges in the territory as lollipop, the APHC Chairman said, these colleges will admit non-local students and their condition will be like that of National Institute of Technology (NIT), Srinagar. “We warn the BJP-PDP coalition against anti-Kashmir plans and misuse of the government machinery. The move will trigger a sharp and serious reaction from the general public who can sacrifice anything for their existence,” he cautioned.

The meeting was attended by the heads or the representatives of Democratic Freedom Party, Anjuman Share-i-Shian, National Front, Muslim Conference, Muslim League, Mass Movement, People’s League, Muslim Democratic League, Democratic Political Movement, Kashmir Freedom Front, Islamic Political Party, Tehreek-e-Mazahamat, Tehreek-e-Khawateen Kashmir, Tehreek-e-Wahdat-i-Islami, Jammu and Kashmir Insaf Party and Tehreek-e-Hurriyet.
