IOK teacher battling for life after hit by PDP village head

Srinagar, October 16, 2015 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, a teacher was critically injured when a village head from ruling pro-India party, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), attacked him in his school in Kulgam district. media reports said that the Panch assaulted the teacher for questioning his wife, who is a cook in the same school, why she turns up late for duty every day. The teacher, Sartaj Ahmad Hajam of Arwani in Bijbehara who was teaching in Government Primary School, Chanapora, and is battling for life in District Hospital, Islamabad, after the assault.

“Shakeela, wife of the Panch, is working as cook in the school and Sartaj would often ask her to serve mid-day meals to the students in time. But every time she would ignore his calls. On Wednesday, she again started cooking late and Sartaj reprimanded her after which she abused him,” the family members of the teacher said.

They said that Shakeela later called her husband who thrashed the teacher mercilessly. “The Panch along with his son assaulted the teacher with iron rods, leaving him in a pool of blood,” said the family members. The Panch and his son also tried to strangulate him, leaving marks all over his neck, they said.
