IOK HCBA condemns ransacking of mosques, houses in Kulgam

Srinagar, July 02, 2016 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, the High Court Bar Association (HCBA) has strongly condemned the ransacking of houses and mosques by personnel of Indian armed forces at Kolpora in Kulgam. The Bar spokesman in a statement issued in Srinagar said that the forces personnel posted at Ashmuji Devsar, Khudwani and Kulgam camps barged into the three mosques and scores of houses at Kolpora ransacking the belongings, smashing windows and doors, and mercilessly roughing up the inmates of the houses including women and children.

Meanwhile, the Bar asked the authorities to file objections to a petition seeking review of its judgment whereby it had ruled out judicial probe into molestation of a girl and subsequent killing of five civilians by forces in Handwara and Kupwara.

On May 4 this year, the High Court while dismissing a petition by the Bar Association for Judicial probe by a sitting High Court judge as unnecessary, had held that it was not a case where the court would need to take any action in exercise of its inherent powers.

The Bar had also pleaded that Judicial Authority be directed to associate with it a high level investigating team, headed by a credible police officer of the rank of IGP, so that, simultaneously with the conducting of the judicial probe, the FIRs registered at Handwara, Drugmulla, Nuth-Nusa and Kupwara were also investigated.
