Srinagar, October 09, 2017 (PPI-OT):In occupied Kashmir, complete shutdown was observed, today, in all major cities and towns of the territory against the growing incidents of braid-chopping, masterminded by Indian intelligence agencies in the Kashmir Valley.
Strict restrictions were imposed by the authorities in Khanyar, Rainawari, Nowhatta, Maharaj Gunj, Safa Kadal, Maisuma and Kralkhud areas of Srinagar to prevent protests. All shops, business establishments and educational institutes remained closed, while roads wore a deserted look in Srinagar, Islamabad, Pulwama and other districts of the Valley. The authorities suspended train service in view of the shutdown call, which was given by the joint resistance leadership over the disgraceful acts against womenfolk of Kashmir. Several people, including a five-year old boy, were injured when Indian forces used brute force on protesters, mostly women who took to the streets in Batamaloo, Seer Hamdan, Pahoo and Tral areas. The injured boy, Sibt-e-Haider was admitted to a Srinagar hospital in a critical condition.
It is pertinent to mention here that more than sixty incidents of braid chopping have surfaced, so far, in the Valley over the past few weeks. Braid choppers either spray some chemical on the face of women to make them unconscious or grab them forcibly and then cut their braids. At many places, people caught hold of the braid choppers; however, they were rescued by the troops and Indian police.
The Jamaat-e-Islami of occupied Kashmir in a statement in Srinagar said that the shameful incidents were aimed at creating an atmosphere of fear and harassment among general masses in the territory.
Meanwhile, Indian troops in their fresh acts of state terrorism, martyred four youth in Baramulla and Shopian districts, today. The youth, identified as Umar Khalid, Zahid Mir, Asif Ahmad and Irfan Abdullah were killed during crackdown operations at Ladoora in Rafiabad in Baramulla and Gatipora, Keller in Shopian.
A junior commissioned officer of Indian army was killed after being hit by a bullet during a cordon and search operation in Drung area of Badgam district. The deceased officer has been identified as Subedar Raj Kumar.
The activists of Hindu extremist organization, Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh, took out a rally in Doda in their traditional uniform. They raised objectionable slogans. The Muslims of the area said that the RSS rally was an attempt to incite communal violence in the region.
On the other hand, a rally was taken out in Muzaffarabad to protest against the braid-chopping incidents in occupied Kashmir. The participants of the rally raised anti-India and pro-freedom slogans, on the occasion.
