Punjab Chief Minister inspects pace of progress on Pakistan Kidney and Liver Transplant Institute

Lahore, November 07, 2017 (PPI-OT):Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif inspected the project of Pakistan Kidney and Liver Transplant Institute (PKLI), here today. He visited different sections and inspected the quality of construction work. The Chief Minister expressed the satisfaction over the pace of progress and directed the concerned staff to expedite the speed of the construction work so that the first phase could be completed by December 25, this year. He was given detailed briefing about the on-going development work in the hospital and the CEO of Infrastructure Development Authority Punjab apprised the Chief Minister about the development made on this project, till date. The Chief Minister went to the mock room and hepatitis filter clinic and talked to the patients and the staff.

The patients expressed their satisfaction and said that best treatment is available to them in the filter clinic where all facilities are provided to them. The Chief Minister during his media talk after the inspection of the project said that efforts are being made to complete the first phase of PKLI by December 25 and it is expected that first phase of the hospital consisting of 114 beds will be inaugurated by December 25. For this purpose, work is continuously being done on it day and night and different facilities including the ICU, CCU, dialysis center and emergency will be included in the first phase.

Despite challenges, the team is burning the midnight oil to complete it by this schedule. This phase is difficult though but the brave nations make the impossible possible with their hard work, trust and honesty and it is hoped that first phase of the project will be operationalized on December 25, 2017, while the 360-bedded hospital project will be fully completed next year. The treatment of poor patients suffering from kidney and liver diseases will be conducted free of cost in this hospital and the Punjab government shall bear the expenses of treatment and operation of the patients. However, the hospital shall be turned into a trust after its completion and commercial activities will also be initiated so as to earn necessary income for free treatment of needy patients.

He said that best treatment facilities are a right of the people and government shall provide this right to them. He said that process of identification process of most talented doctors and nurses from America, Europe, Middle East and from other countries of the world is in progress, while some of the surgeons, specialists and nurses have already been arranged. The hospital management system is being designed under the supervision of famous kidney surgeon Dr. Saeed Akhtar.

The Punjab government is setting up this hospital with its resources and it is a model of public-private partnership where latest facilities of treatment of kidney and liver diseases will be available. This hospital will not be one of its kind in Pakistan but in the whole region, as well. Not only high-quality medical facilities will be provided in this hospital but janitorial services will be of international standards. The Chief Minister also congratulated the Provincial Minister and Secretary for Health, police, administration, contractors and others and said that the promise of completion of the first phase of this project on December 25 be fulfilled. He said this hospital belongs not only to Punjab but the people of the whole of Pakistan as well and the needy patients from across the country will get free treatment facilities in this hospital.

Replying to the questions of the media, the Chief Minister said that those people are talking about holding of the election before the time that have ruined the Khyber PK and added that mendacity; allegations and U-turns are their characteristics. I don’t find it suitable to reply to their useless talks. The case is in progress in the court of law and despite it, this gentleman is saying that Shehbaz Sharif had offered him Rs. 10 billion. And instead of appearing before the court, he is saying that the case may be shifted to Islamabad or anywhere else.

The case is in progress in the court and instead of appearing before the court, he is saying that he has been offered Rs. 10 billion; there is no other proof of his dishonesty than it. His allegations are a proof that he has been morally as well as politically bankrupted. Levelling of allegations shows that he wasted precious time of the nation through sit-in. had the PML-N formed its government in the KPK, then the hospitals projects would have been completed over there too. Instead of escaping to the mountains to gossip by evading the dengue, steps would have been taken like the elimination of fake and spurious drugs and the dengue disease would have also been countered there. The Chief Minister said that the case of orange line metro train is in the court and the Lahore High Court has issued stay order one and a half year early about it.

However, we have approached the Supreme Court and the PTI has fully opposed this public welfare project and we hold the PTI responsible for the delay in this project. He said that allegations of corruption were levelled in metro bus project as well but the corruption of even a single penny was not proved. The elements who don’t want the projects of providing basic facilities to the people including health and education and orange line metro train are completed and the layman enjoy latest healthcare facilities, are talking about holding of elections before time. These people gave nothing to the people of KPK and also want to deprive the people of Punjab of their rights.

To a question, the Chief Minister said that Zardari Sahib who plundered six billion rupees of the poor nation is lecturing us today and added that the plunderer that looted the hard earned money of the poor nation has no right to give lectures against corruption. Zardari Sahib did not write a letter on the orders of the Supreme Court to hide his corruption by getting the support of the constitution. The elements making a dacoity on the right of the poor nation should remember that the sigh of the poor goes directly to Almighty Allah. The person that has looted 60 million dollars of the poor nation has no right to lecture against corruption. He said what to talk about Zardari Sahib; he is lecturing today who has usurped Rs. 6 billion of the nation.

It is a sheer un-luck that a person involved in corruption is lecturing with such ‘bravery.’ To another question, the Chief Minister regretted that concocted news is highlighted while the efforts of service to the nation find no place in the media. Therefore, media is also responsible and if the efforts aimed at changing the national culture through falsehood and allegations are not curbed then we all will be responsible. Media should highlight this thing that who has plundered the development resources given to the provinces and the newspapers should write columns that how Rs. six billion of the poor nation was siphoned off.

The then federal minister Babar Awan made a dacoity in the Nandipur Power Project and the Supreme Court gave a verdict that NAB should act against him. Billions of rupees of the poor nation were usurped in rental power projects and dacoity was made in institutions like NICL. The Paradise Leaks has shown that how the biggest corrupt encroached upon lands in the country and government lands were purchased at cheaper rates. The Paradise Leaks has exposed characters like Niazi Sahib and others. These are those critical questions which require answers. To a question, he said that he is not levelling allegations but bringing out facts.

N-League and the Sharif Family are facing accountability now and the accountability should be indiscriminate; all should be included and it should also be transparent. To a question, the Chief Minister said that there are many reasons of smog and added that he has taken notice of the people who have not run an awareness campaign about it. According to international bodies, the smog situation has been arisen due to different reasons including burning of leftover of the crops in Eastern Punjab in India. It is a challenge and we shall deal with it. To another question, the Chief Minister said that Muhammad Nawaz Sharif is the leader of Pakistan Muslim League-N and whatever he will decide; we shall follow it in letter and spirit.
