Protests held in Sumbal against disappearance of youth

Srinagar, March 06, 2016 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, people took to the streets at Sumbal in Bandipora district against the mysterious disappearance of a youth. The youth, Riyaz Ahmed, son of Abdul Ahad Beigh from Wangipora area of Sumbal, is missing since Friday. The protesters blocked Bandipora-Srinagar highway near Sumbal bridge, which caused suspension of vehicular movement. “He had left for Srinagar on Friday at around 3 pm. Since then there is no trace of him. His phone is also switched off,” said Showkat Ahmad, his cousin.

He said that they had filed a complaint with police but no action has been taken, as yet. In the past, Indian Army has subjected many youth to enforced disappearances on mere suspicion or without any reason.
