Larkana, August 09, 2017 (PPI-OT):SIUT chief and renowned urologist Dr Adeebul Hassan Rizvi said on Wednesday that Larkana had become world-famous after Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto and now it had separate identity. He was addressing a gathering after inaugurating SIUT unit being established here behind Degree College. The ceremony was also attended by commissioner Abbas Baloch, deputy commissioner Kashif Tipu and others. Dr Rizvi also planted a sapling inside the unit.
He said the purpose of establishing SIUT unit in Larkana after Karachi was to provide better healthcare facilities to the people. He said that patients at SIUT were being treated without any recommendation, caste, colour or creed. Rizvi said: “This unit is a gift to the people of Larkana and we will work in a systematic way here.” He said previously, patients were facing hardships while coming to Larkana from Sukkur and were suffering very badly during their journey, adding they were also not justifiably provided treatment.
Rizvi further said that number of patients was increasing day by day but they had no comparison with anyone else as they only wanted to serve the mankind. He said that SIUT is a government institution but is running on peoples’ donations. He thanked the Larkana administration for providing all required facilities to establish the unit.
The commissioner said that with the establishment of the unit, indisposed people of Balochistan would also get treatment and other facilities apart from Sindh. Vice Chancellor Prof Asghar Channa said that all professors of Benazir Bhutto Medical University (BBMU) and Chandka Medical College would cooperate with the unit and will also be instructed to help the unit so that it may be able to deliver for the betterment of ailing poor people.
Later, Rizvi also inaugurated CCTV camera project of BBMU costing Rs 36 million out of which 20 million had been given by Higher Education Commission. He was also briefed that BBMU comprises over 72 acres of land and 43 cameras had already been installed which were working round the clock and all its affiliated colleges/departments would be closely monitored round the clock.
