Peshawar, August 04, 2019 (PPI-OT): The Inspector General of Police Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Dr. Muhammad Naeem Khan has said that martyr is immortal and hero for all time and martyr never dies added that due to supreme sacrifices of police shuhada much needed peace and tranquillity have returned to the province.
This, he said, while addressing a ceremony held in connection with Police Shuhada Day at Shiraz Arena Peshawar today. Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Shah Farman and Corps Commander Peshawar Lieutenant General Mazhar Shaheen especially graced the occasion. The Provincial Police Officer informed that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa police was fighting as a front line force against the terrorists and the courage and gallantry acts demonstrated by them have no parallel in the entire history.
He pointed out that police was neither trained nor equipped with necessary equipment for this war. However, he further went on to say that despite all these problems and difficulties the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police fought the war just like service above self and service beyond the call of duty. He disclosed that more than 1700 police officers and jawans from the rank of constable to the Additional IGP laid down their precious lives in the war against terror and even now each and every officer and jawan of the force are indebted with the spirit and motivation and ready to sacrifices life in the line of duty.
The IGP further informed that on one side Khyber Pakhtunkhwa police was kept fighting unconventional war and on the other hand was also busy in enhancing the capacity building of the force. The IGP pointed out that now the brave force had taken responsibilities in the newly merged districts added that the newly inductee levies and Khasadar officers and jawans will now perform their indispensable role with more zeal and spirit. He maintained that the recently peaceful election for provincial Assembly seats were the testimony of this fact.
The IGP informed that the welfare of the heirs of police shuhada and solution of their confronting problems was his top must priority added that more ASI seats for the wards of police shuhada would be sanctioned and more incentives would be approved from the government. He assured that no efforts will be left for further increasing the police shuhada package. The IGP held in high esteem the courage and spirit of the heirs of the police shuhada in the function and termed them great sons and daughters of the soil. He also appreciated the police Ghazis who bravely fought this war and termed them precious asset of the force. The IGP thanked everyone present in the Hall particularly the print and electronic media for contributing special write-up about the bravery and achievements of the police martyrs.
