Srinagar, August 25, 2016 (PPI-OT):In occupied Kashmir, the Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) has said that inhuman methods by India cannot break the resolve of Kashmiri people to continue their liberation struggle.
The JI in a statement issued in Srinagar said that India had established rule of lawlessness in the Kashmir Valley and given a licence to its forces to use brute force against the innocent people at will.
It said that the forces’ personnel had employed all barbaric and inhuman methods to break the will of the Kashmiri people who are demanding their birthright to self-determination and fulfilment of the pledges made to them through the United Nations. “Instead of listening to the just voice of Kashmiris, Indian rulers are issuing threatening statements against them and warning them of dire consequences in case they do not give up their genuine demand,” it added.
The JI said that its stand over the Kashmir dispute was quite clear and unambiguous, adding that it wanted the dispute to be settled permanently through tripartite negotiations among Pakistan, India and the real representatives of the people of Kashmir in line with the relevant UN resolutions.
The statement said that it was the legal and moral duty of the Indian government to create a congenial atmosphere wherein the long-pending dispute could be settled. “The use of brutal force will do nothing but add fuel to the fire. The deployment of BSF and army by using oppressive and coercive methods can suppress the peaceful people for the time being, but can never kill their aspirations,” it added.
The JI appealed to the international and Indian human rights organizations to play their role to stop India from committing atrocities on the innocent people of occupied Kashmir.
