Srinagar, August 26, 2015 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, the All Parties Hurriyet Conference has said that India’s attempt to evade talks over the Kashmir dispute is contrary to the historical realties of the region. Terming the India’s stand on talks over the issue as unfortunate, imprudent and contrary to the historical, political and ground realities, the APHC at its meeting of the executive, general and working committee members, held under the chair of Mirwaiz Umar Farooq in Srinagar discussed the ongoing political situation with special reference to the breakdown of talks between India and Pakistan.
The participants describing the Kashmir dispute as the core issue between the two countries, said, the Kashmir dispute is the main reason for the huge trust deficit between the two countries. “Unless the issue is resolved taking the aspirations of the people of Jammu and Kashmir into consideration, little progress can be made between the two countries in normalization of relationships and resolution of other issues,” said a statement issued after the meeting.
The meeting expressed astonishment at the statement made by the Indian Foreign Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj that Kashmir issue would not be discussed at the NSA meeting. “The participants stated that the Kashmir dispute has always been the focal point of any discussion between India and Pakistan since 1947. From Tashkent to Ufa, countless deliberations have been held between them, to move towards the resolution of the dispute,” read the statement.
The executive body also reminded the Kashmir issue stands alive in the UN where several resolutions have been passed in this connection and several rounds of talks have been held to resolve the problem. The meeting asserted that Hurriyet would continue its efforts to solve the Kashmir dispute in accordance with the wishes and aspirations of Kashmiri people.
Over the completion of 26 years of the infamous police crackdown of Jamia Masjid on August 25, 1989, the participants castigated pro-India parties of hatching the conspiracy to undermine the centrality of the Jamia mosque. “Since then, efforts are on to harm the historical significance and centrality of Jamia Masjid. But despite the coercive and terror tactics of the powers, the pulpit of Jamia Masjid will continue to represent people’s aspirations and emotions come what may,” the statement concluded.
