Indian police shift Shabbir Shah from Srinagar to Delhi

Srinagar, July 26, 2017 (PPI-OT):In occupied Kashmir, Indian authorities have shifted the APHC General Secretary and Chairman of Democratic Freedom Party, Shabbir Ahmad Shah, to New Delhi from Srinagar. He was under continued house detention for the past several years.

Indian police had arrested Shabbir Ahmad Shah after raiding his Sanat Nagar residence in Srinagar, late last night, and lodged him at Humhama police station. The police shifted the APHC leader to New Delhi, today.

Pertinently, on Monday, the Indian National Investigation Agency (NIA) had arrested Hurriyat leaders, Altaf Ahmed Shah, Merajuddin Kalwal, Peer Saifullah, Ayaz Muhammad Akbar, Shahid-ul-Islam and Nayeem Ahmed Khan from Srinagar and Farooq Ahmed Dar from New Delhi. The NIA officials produced them at Patiala House Court in New Delhi on Tuesday that granted 10 days remand of the leaders to NIA.

Meanwhile, the puppet authorities have extended the judicial remand of illegally detained Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) Chairman, Muhammad Yasin Malik, till August 5, 2017. He was produced before a court on Tuesday that extended his remand for ten more days. Indian police had arrested Muhammad Yasin Malik along with many party leaders and activists on Friday and sent them to Srinagar Central Jail on judicial remand till July 25, 2017.

On the other hand, Hurriyet leader and Vice President of DFP, Mehmood Ahmed Saghar, in a statement issued in Islamabad denounced in strong terms the illegal detention of party President, Shabbir Ahmed Shah and other leaders. He said that Indian authorities since long had been using arrests and house detentions as a weapon of war to cow down pro-freedom leaders besides suppressing the voice of dissent in the disputed territory.

He said, “The NIA that has been assigned the task to malign Kashmiri leaders just to tarnish their public image besides sowing the seeds of discord among the masses in Kashmir”. Saghar observed that since Indian authorities have miserably failed to suppress Kashmiris’ legitimate struggle, Indian secret agencies had orchestrated a new plot whereby a vilification campaign to demonize pro-freedom leaders was going on unabated.
