Homage paid to January 27 martyrs of Kupwara

Srinagar, January 27, 2019 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, Hurriyat leaders have paid glowing tributes to the martyrs of Kupwara massacre of January 27, 1994. Indian troops had brutally killed 27 innocent Kashmiris on this day in 1994 to punish the people for observing shutdown on Indian Republic Day, the 26th January, in the town.

Hurriyat leaders Shabbir Ahmed Dar, Muhammad Iqbal Mir, Muhammad Ahsan Untoo, Imtiaz Reshi, Ghulam Nabi War, Ghulam Nabi Waseem and Yasmeen Raja in their statements in Srinagar reminded the international community about its negligence by not putting pressure on India to arrest the killers of these innocent people.

They said that human rights groups have maintained a criminal silence over the killing of innocent Kashmiris and hoped that international community would take appropriate action against the culprits.

The Chairman of International Forum for Justice and Human Rights, Muhammad Ahsan Untoo in a statement in Srinagar said that closing the case for the non-cooperation of the army unit is the biggest injustice with the people martyred by the army personnel headed by the then Field Officer JDS Baskhi.
He urged the international community to send a team of experts to the territory for holding an independent and transparent probe into the Kupwara massacre.

The Chairman of Jammu and Kashmir Employees Movement, Muhammad Shafi Lone in a statement in Srinagar paid tributes to the martyrs of Kupwara. He said Indian forces are killing innocent Kashmiris on daily basis and urged the world community to resolve the dispute according to the will of Kashmiri people.
