Anti Narcotics Force recovers 14 Kgs Opium, 9 Kgs Heroin and 477 Kgs Charas worth over Rs 50 Crores

Islamabad, March 11, 2014 (PPI-OT): ANF in 2 different intelligence led operations recovered drugs worth millions. The operations resulted in recovery of fine quality of drugs, which were intended for smuggling abroad.

According to details, ANF Rawalpindi received information that huge quantity of narcotics is being smuggled from Peshawar to Karachi through Motorway / GT Road. Consequently interception was planned between Peshawar and Rawalpindi at Motorway and Motorway Police was taken into confidence.

As per information, the vehicle Toyota Corolla (Golden Colour) Registration No GU – 905 got on to Motorway from Peshawar at midnight 10/11 Mar 2014. The vehicle was intercepted on Motorway near Burhan Interchange, however 2 individuals onboard got suspicious and fled away crossing the fence of Motorway, while abandoning the vehicle.

On detailed search of vehicle 657 packets of Charas and 5 packets of Opium were recovered from the car, weighing approximately 477 Kgs of Charas and 14 Kgs of Opium. The drugs are of high quality and were being smuggled to Karachi for onward dispatch abroad. The value of seized drugs is approximately Rs. 50 crore in international market.

ANF Peshawar conducted an operation near Patang Chowk and arrested Arbab Munir s/o Arbab Nazir Ahmed Jan r/o Peshawar and recovered 4.8 Kgs of Charas from his personal possession. The accused has been arrested at the spot.

ANF Lahore acting upon information seized a Toyota Corolla Registration No. LEC – 8186 near Kabirwala and recovered 9 Kgs of He roin concealed in secret cavities of car. The 2 persons on board namely Waqif Kamal s/o Aslam Khan r/o Peshawar and Muhammad Saleem s/o Abdul Shakoor r/o Khanewal have been arrested at the spot. All accused have been apprehended, FIRs lodged in ANF Police Stations and further investigations are under process.
