Srinagar, October 12, 2017 (PPI-OT):In occupied Kashmir, the All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) Chairman, Syed Ali Gilani has said that New Delhi is trampling all fundamental rights of the people. Syed Ali Gilani in a statement issued in Srinagar expressed serious concern over ransacking of residence of a noted writer and Islamic scholar, Altaf Hussain Nadvi, by Indian troops.
He denounced the Indian forces for their hooliganism and said that under the protection of draconian law, Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPAP, the forces’ personnel enjoyed impunity and were involved in inflicting brutalities on people. “It is very serious and condemnable that forces during their raids resort to loot and women and elderly are ill-treated,” he added.
The AQPHC Chairman said, Altaf Nadvi is a writer and a scholar and while contributing to literature, he has always opposed occupational forces and exposed them for their sinister designs and brutalities inflicted on innocent people. “This is annoying and infuriating authorities and they feel desperate to strangulate genuine voices,” he said.
Syed Ali Gilani said that despite all their vandalism and atrocities, the writers and literary men would continue to highlight their brutal actions in the territory. Meanwhile, the APHC spokesman in a statement issued in Srinagar condemned the continued detention and house arrest of Syed Ali Gilani and other Hurriyat leaders including Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Muhammad Yasin Malik.
