Friday prayers not allowed at Jamia Masjid Indian police arrest Yasin Malik in Srinagar

Srinagar, June 09, 2017 (PPI-OT):In occupied Kashmir, the puppet authorities on Friday closed all gates of Jamia Masjid Srinagar and sealed all routes leading to the historical mosque to prevent people from gathering for weekly congregational prayers.

The authorities’ move was aimed at stopping people from staging demonstrations against the killing of a student, Aadil Farooq Magray, by Indian troops in Shopian. Call for the demonstrations was given by the joint resistance leadership comprising Syed Ali Gilani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Muhammad Yasin Malik against Aadil’s cold-blooded murder.

All roads leading to the mosque in Nowhatta were sealed with rolls of concertina wires. The gates of the mosque were locked and people were disallowed to offer Friday prayers. Indian police arrested Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front Chairman, Muhammad Yasin Malik along with other party leaders Noor Muhammad Kalwal and Zahoor Ahmad Butt at Sarai Bala in Srinagar when he tried to lead a protest march towards Lal Chowk in Srinagar.

The authorities also detained all other Hurriyet leaders including APHC Chairman, Syed Ali Gilani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, Shabbir Ahmad Shah, Mukhtar Ahmad Waza and Qazi Yasir Ahmad in their houses and police stations to prevent them from leading the demonstrations. They were not even allowed to offer Friday prayers.
