Srinagar, June 22, 2015 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, the forum led by the veteran Hurriyet leader, Syed Ali Gilani and other pro-freedom organizations and leaders have demanded an impartial probe into the killing of Azad Jammu and Kashmir prisoner.
The prisoner, Waheed Noor Khan, hailing from Rawalakot, Azad Jammu and Kashmir, was killed in a bomb blast inside the police van in Sopore on Saturday. The forum spokesman in a statement issued in Srinagar said that the incident was mysterious and suspicious and demanded an impartial investigation by some independent agency.
The Chairman of Jammu and Kashmir Democratic Freedom Party (DFP) Shabbir Ahmad Shah, terming the death as murder, expressed deep grief over the incident. He held the authorities responsible for the death. The Jammu and Kashmir Salvation Movement Chairman, Zafar Akbar Butt denounced the killing as cold-blooded murder.
Hurriyet leaders, Shabbir Ahmed Dar, Muhammad Iqbal Mir and Muhammad Ahsan Untoo in a joint statement expressed deep shock and anguish over the martyrdom of Noor Waheed Khan under suspicious circumstances when he was returning from Sopore after attending court.
The High Court Bar Association also demanded a probe into the incident and said that the lawyer’s body was seriously concerned about the safety and security of the prisoners “particularly of the foreign nationals who are lodged in different jails.” Human rights defender groups ‘Voice of Victims’ in a statement asked Indian authorities to abide by the international laws and probe the killing according to international laws.
Hurriyet leaders Yasmeen Raja, Zamrooda Habib, Farooq Ahmad Tawheedi, Syed Saleem Gilani and Hakeem Abdul Rashid in their statements questioned the death of a particular person amid presence of 6 policemen in the van. They said the incident is an act of gross human rights violation in Kashmir and is highly condemnable.
