Islamabad, January 30, 2023 (PPI-OT):Algiers-Algeria- The 17th session of the Parliamentary Union of the OIC Member States (PUIC) conference was held today in Algiers-Algeria, where Deputy Speaker Zahid Akram Durrani addressed the gathering of parliamentarians from across the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Member States.
In his speech, Mr. Durrani emphasized the importance of a united front in tackling the socio-economic and political challenges facing the Muslim world. He noted the rising incidents of desecration of the Holy Quran, which have sparked outrage and concern among Muslim communities worldwide, as a pressing issue that requires collective action.
Mr. Durrani also highlighted the impacts of climate change and the devastating floods that have affected many parts of Pakistan, calling for greater international cooperation to address this global challenge. The resolution of the Kashmir conflict was another issue that he stressed was of great concern to the Muslim world, and called for peaceful and diplomatic efforts to resolve the decades-long dispute.
In addition, Mr. Durrani spoke about the growing issue of Islamophobia, which has become a major challenge for Muslim communities globally. He condemned the acts of terrorism and extremism carried out in the name of Islam, and called for a concerted effort to counter these malicious ideologies.
