Karachi, July 28, 2015 (PPI-OT): DHA has established a Rain Emergency Centre at DHA Head Office which will work round the clock to facilitate the residents in getting their complaints/problems promptly redressed during the impending rain emergency. This has been done in view of the tropical monsoon rains in Karachi which is likely to become critical in the next few days.
Cantonment Board Clifton (CBC) is responsibility for undertaking dewatering and relief operations of rain affected areas of DHA Phase-I to Phase-VII while the responsibility of the same for Phase-VII Extension and Phase-VIII falls under the purview of DHA. A dedicated Rain Emergency Centre has also been established under DHA Phase-VIII Development Directorate to cater for the rain emergencies in the area.
DHA, in case of need, will fully support and augment CBC in the dewatering and rain emergency relief operations for which requisite resources have been earmarked and kept as reserved. For disaster management operations, DHA has earmarked three locations (DHA Schools) where relief camps will be established while enhanced security/traffic management arrangements and provision of medical cover has also been planned for the eventuality. All hoardings boards in DHA are also being removed as a precautionary measure to avoid any accidents in case of thunderstorm and heavy rains.
