Curb on joint resistance leadership’s meeting denounced

Srinagar, November 27, 2016 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, the joint resistance leadership comprising Syed Ali Gilani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Muhammad Yasin Malik has condemned the puppet authorities for preventing their meet in Srinagar, yesterday.

Syed Ali Gilani in a statement in Srinagar said that Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Muhammad Yasin Malik were scheduled to meet him at his Hyderpora residence. “The Mirwaiz was not allowed to step out of his residence and Yasin Malik on reaching Hyderpora was sent back from the gate by the police. We strongly condemn such cowardly and unlawful actions,” he said.

Mirwaiz Umar Farooq in an interview said, “We are witnessing height of oppression. There is a ban on meeting people, addressing Friday gatherings, and attending religious functions. You cannot even meet the families of victims to express sympathy.” He said that occupied Kashmir had been turned into a complete police state where all rights were muzzled through military might.

The Mirwaiz added that the meeting was aimed to discuss future strategy. “We were supposed to chalk out future strategy and to accommodate various suggestions put forth by different stakeholders on November 8,” he said.

Muhammad Yasin Malik said that in occupied Kashmir pro-freedom leaders were not even allowed to attend funerals of martyred youth. He maintained that not allowing pro-freedom leaders to attend religious gatherings, visit the families of martyrs and offer funerals is nothing but naked fascism. “There can be no worst example of fascism other than what is happening in Kashmir,” he added.

It is to mention here that the joint resistance leadership has been issuing protest calendar following the extrajudicial killing of popular youth leader, Burhan Wani, on July 8, this year.
