Srinagar, April 01, 2017 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, the Hurriyet forum led by Mirwaiz Umar Farooq has denounced the continued illegal house detention of its Chairman and deplored that he was not being allowed even to offer Juma prayers.
The forum spokesman in a statement issued in Srinagar said that it was for the fourth Friday that Mirwaiz Umar Farooq had been barred from offering Friday prayers and delivering the sermon at Srinagar’s historic Jamia Masjid.
He said that harassment, arrests, torture, detentions, curfews and restrictions had become order of day in occupied Kashmir. He said, “Hurriyet leaders, activists and youth are put behind the bars and space for expressing political will is denied. The exercise of holding so-called by-elections in this environment is a cruel joke being played upon the people and they are being put to further trouble and harassment.”
The spokesman said, Kashmir has been turned into a big jail where any Kashmiri holding a political view contrary to BJP-RSS is liable to be killed and becomes a target of Indian forces. He pointed out that those who protest against repression are showered with bullets and pellets and labeled as over-ground workers of mujahideen and their killing is justified accordingly.
