Chief Secretary Sindh advises Secretary Implementation and Co-ordination and Commissioner Mirpurkhas to ensure prosperity of Thar people

Karachi, July 09, 2019 (PPI-OT): Chief Secretary Sindh Syed Mumtaz Ali Shah has advised the Secretary Implementation and Co-ordination and Commissioner Mirpurkhas to ensure prosperity of the Thar people by facilitating them through Thar Development Package Programme in providing food, water supply, medicines and other livelihood including protection of livestock devotedly and transparently.

He asked strengthening of coordinated efforts amongst all stake-holders and nation building departments. Syed Mumtaz Ali Shah said this while commenting on a report submitted to him by the Secretary Implementation and Co-ordination Dr. Riaz Ahmed Siddiqui who is also the Convener of the Monitoring Committee on Thar Development Programme. Mr. Riaz Ahmed Siddiqui, Secretary (I and C) SGA and CD, Convener of the Monitoring Committee on Thar and other members of the Committee held a series of meetings at Mithi with official of relevant departments. The meetings were attended by Mr. Mushtaq Ahmed Kalwar, District and Session Judge Tharparkar, Mr. Abdul Waheed Sheikh, Divisional Commissioner Mirpurkhas, Dr Sono Khangrani and Dr. Shehzad Tahir Thaheem, Deputy Commissioner Tharparkar as well as representatives of Health, Education, Forest, Public health Engineering, Roads and other departments.

The Convener informed the meeting that the Government was aware of the problems of Tharparkar and taking all possible measures to solve them on priority by providing the people all facilities of Health, Education and Public Health. He directed the Health Department officials to ensure that medicines and other facilities were available in the local hospitals. They should submit their compliance report hospital-wise, he added. He asked the Education department officials to undertake a survey of Schools and submit a comprehensive report on the availability of teaching Staff and facilities School-wise.

The Committee directed the representative of the Public Health Department to ensure that all RO plants were functional. The Forest department officials were asked to ensure availability of fodder for the cattle and optimal utilization of rainwater for irrigation of crop. The Roads Department was asked to prepare a report regarding the repair work on the Islamkot and Nangarparkar road. Commissioner Mirpurkhas and Deputy Commissioner Tharparkar were requested to supervise and Coordinate all development work in Tharparkar.
