Chief of Army Staff visits field formations in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa/Federally Administered Tribal Areas

Rawalpindi, November 22, 2013 (PPI-OT): General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani, Chief of Army Staff, visited today field formations deployed in KPK/ FATA. During his interactions with troops in Wana, Jandola and Miranshah, he appreciated their spirit in the line of duty. The entire nation acknowledged the sacrifices made by officers and men of Pakistan Army and Frontier Corps as part of national effort to eliminate the menace of terrorism and militancy, he said.

On his farewell visit, COAS also reviewed the progress of development projects in FATA initiated by Army during last few years including under construction 714 KM long Central Trade Corridor and road network system in SWA and NWA. Expressing his satisfaction on the quality and progress of the work, he appreciated all the FWO and Army troops, busy in undertaking these and other projects.

Later, COAS visited Peshawar Corps Headquarters. He laid a floral wreath at Yadgar-e-Shuhada and offered Fateha. He also addressed Garrison officers and troops and appreciated their dedication, professionalism and high morale displayed by them while performing their duties under difficult environments. He thanked each one of them for giving his best in meeting all contingencies may it be operations, internal security duties, reconstruction work or employment for calamities.

Earlier on arrival at D.I. khan, COAS was received by Lt Gen Khalid Rabbani, Commander Peshawar Corps who then accompanied him during his entire visit to FATA and Peshawar .
