Srinagar, August 13, 2014 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, a court in Srinagar ordered issuance of arrest warrant against Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Jammu, Uttam Chand, for not appearing in the 2007 Gandarbal fake encounter killing case that was listed for hearing, the other day.
Principal District and Sessions Judge, Abdul Rashid Dar ordered an arrest warrant against Uttam Chand for his non-appearance in the fake encounter killing of Abdul Rehman Padroo, a carpenter, by Indian police and Army in 2007. The Director General of Police has been directed to serve the warrant to the officer and bring him before the court on 29th of this month.
Chand was the chief investigating officer of the Special Investigation Team (SIT) that probed the killing of Padroo, who was picked up by the then SSP Ganderbal, Hans Raj Parihar, and his accomplices and subsequently killed to earn medals and promotions.
According to the charge-sheet produced before the court, the accused had hatched a criminal conspiracy and were involved in killing of Padroo, a resident of Larnoo area of Kokernag.
