APHC denounces arrests during nocturnal raids in Srinagar

Srinagar, July 07, 2015 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, the All Parties Hurriyet Conference (APHC) has strongly denounced the arrest of around eighteen youth in downtown area of Srinagar during nocturnal raids by Indian police. The APHC spokesman in a statement issued in Srinagar expressed serious concern over the arrests. He said that it was highly unwarranted that the police were raiding the houses of youth during pre-dawn (Sehri) hours in this holy month of Ramadan and harassing the residents.

He said that the parents of the youth were worried since the arrest of their wards that were being locked up at unknown places. He said that the parents were being kept completely in dark regarding the location of their sons by the concerned police authorities for unknown reasons. The spokesman said, during raids on houses of the youth, the police often resort to ransacking, beating of residents and harassing women folk. He maintained that such aggressive actions were against all civil and democratic norms.
